Child Watch Associate

Child Watch Attendants are responsible for providing a safe, caring and enriching environment for member's children to enjoy while their parents use YMCA Facility. All Child Watch staff will be responsible for the overall successful day-to-day running of the Y Child Watch program, as well as be responsible for high-quality childcare. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.


• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age .
• Minimum one-year previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check and provide proof of current MMR and TDap Vaccinations.
• Infant/Child/Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
• Child Abuse Prevention training preferred but will be offered
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

• Must be able to meet minimum requirements and perform functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be able to communicate clearly to all children, parents, members and company personnel
• Present a clean, well-groomed appearance
• Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
• Occasionally must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Frequently may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking
